Brand owners taking responsibility. We got together with selected brand owners who strongly believe we can do more to reduce the amount of recyclable packaging going to our local land fills.

Together we have developed a Voluntary Return program, hoping to make it easier and more convenient for you to recycle.

When shopping in your local
Save-On-Foods, look for this
sign on the shelf:

This indicates that the packaging of that particular brand can be returned to any Changes Recycling
Centre. The rest is simple:

  • Empty containers of all liquids
  • Remove all caps from containers
  • Leave all the labels on
  • Sort your containers in separate bags by material:
    plastic, glass, paper and metal
  • Please insure all the cardboard is clean and dry

**Note: Containers not received in the above condition will not be accepted

1) Corporate Brands

We take responsibility for recycling the packaging and containers for our own house brands. For most Western Family, Western Classics and Value Priced used packaging and containers that you return to any Changes Recycling Centre, you'll receive
1 Save-On-More bonus point.

2) Selected National Brands

Changes got together with proactive Save-On-Foods vendor partners who share our commitment to recycling in order to develop a Voluntary Return Program to recycle packaging and containers of selected products. For each eligible container you return, you will now earn 1 Save-On-More bonus point. Look for the recyclable packaging shelf tags in the Safe-On-Foods stores or check out the eligible products on-line, then return the used packaging to Changes Recycling Centre.

3) Milk Jugs
Now at Changes Recycling Centre you can receive 5 Save-On-More bonus points for any 4 litre milk jug. We accept all brand names.

How to return milk jugs:

  • Remove lids
  • Rinse thoroughly
  • Flatten jugs before returning

*Limit 30 jugs per family per day.

4) Used Printer Cartridges

Now at Changes Recycling Centres you can return any of your used inkjet cartridges and receive 100 Save-On-More bonus points.
This offer is good for any used printer cartridges - inkjet or laser.

*Limit 5 cartridges per family per day.

Every day hundreds of thousands of empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges are thrown out. Printer cartridges are made mostly of plastic and end up dumped in our landfill sites across Canada. Help us help the environment by keeping recyclables out of our landfills. Changes felt strongly enough about this issue to do something. Changes with it's joint sponsor, Ko-Rec-Type®, have teamed up to encourage more people to recycle their printer cartridges.
